Safe-T-Vent Thermally-Actuated Damper For Venting Cabinets, 2" Connection
Achieve Ventilation without Sacrificing Cabinet Integrity
Proper ventilation of odors, toxins, and ignitable vapors and dust is crucial for the health and safety of those who work with and around flammable liquids and hazardous materials. The Safe-T-Vent Thermally-Actuated Cabinet Damper is designed to help achieve ventilation without sacrificing cabinet integrity. This damper is FM-approved for use in conjunction with a Justrite safety cabinet, providing a safe, reliable, and compliant way to ventilate a safety cabinet while maintaining its performance in a fire.
Reliable and Compliant Ventilation Solution
The patented Safe-T-Vent connects a properly designed venting system to the cabinet using 2-inch nominal NPT Schedule 40 steel pipe. In the event of a fire, the fusible link melts at 165° F, closing the valve plate and stopping the flow of air through the cabinet vents. This protects the cabinet and its contents, ensuring safety and compliance.
Durable Construction for Hazardous Locations
The Safe-T-Vent features heavy-duty stainless steel construction, reducing heat transfer and providing frictional spark resistance as required for hazardous locations. Brass bushings and washers reduce friction and ensure reliable valve actuation, making it suitable for use in flammable liquid or hazardous material safety cabinets.
Easy Installation and Maintenance
The reversible design of the Safe-T-Vent eliminates installation errors, and its simple design makes maintenance a breeze. Each cabinet requires two dampers, one for fresh air intake and one for exhaust to the outdoors. Install with 2-inch nominal NPT Schedule 40 steel pipe to match cabinet vents, providing non-combustible ducting and proper management of static.
Applications and Consultation
The Safe-T-Vent is suitable for use on any manual or self-close Justrite safety cabinet that accepts 2-inch NPT threads. It is essential to consult a professional engineer as part of the ventilation system design process to ensure proper installation and compliance.
